Somalia Faces Flood Emergency

Over 460,000 Somali citizens have been impacted by the flash floods, starting on Monday, 15 May, 2023. The annual rain and ensuing flooding have left a trail of destruction in their wake, displacing almost 220,000 people. It is estimated that the total number of affectees and damage might take up to a few weeks due to the disaster.

In the region that was already affected by droughts, the monsoon season has wreaked havoc on several vulnerable communities. They are in a state of trauma and desperately looking for help as they evacuate their homes in the state of emergency.

The people in the Horn of Africa are going through the worst days of their lives. At such a time, they need your generosity and compassion more than ever. Amoud Foundation delivers your donations directly to the beneficiaries so that your charity makes the biggest impact. With your support, we aim to help those who were directly affected by the flash floods. Let them know that you care by donating now!

Amoud Foundation’s field teams are delivering emergency humanitarian assistance to several areas of Somalia and Ethiopia. They are also assessing the upcoming threats and the needs of affected communities. Devastating flash floods have washed away thousands of homes and livestock that were the single source of food and income for villagers. The situation is calling for an emergency supply of food, mosquito nets, and shelter and sanitation items.
