Because of you, our Qurbani efforts fed thousands of people in many countries felt the joy of Eid last year.
Allah subhaan wa taala does not need the physical aspects of the sacrifice, He accepts the intentions and decrees that the meat is gifted to all who may enjoy it as stated in the Qur’an.
It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him. Thus have We made them subject to you that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم) to the Muhsinun (doers of good).
Surah Al-Hajj, 37
Qurbani is another word for Udhiya, and mean animal sacrifice. Prophet Ibrahim was commanded by Allah subhaan wa taala to slaughter his son, as a test. When Prophet Ibrahim passed the test, Allah subhaan wa taala gave him a sheep to slaughter instead. Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail’s complete submission to Allah subhaan wa taala through this sacrifice marked the beginnings of an obligatory sacrifice for all Muslims. Thus, Muslims sacrifice animals on Eid ul Adha as a sincere test of faith and submission to Allah subhaan wa taala. This practice is an essential part of our community and spiritual well-being by providing the opportunity for others to enjoy the festivities of Eid who might not otherwise have it. It also provides an important lesson in the act of giving.
Amoud Foundation has been delivering Qurbani/Udhiya in the Horn of Africa since 1998 where there is the most need. Amoud Foundation is present on the ground in this region to effectively distribute your sacrifice to the needy and most vulnerable whose only time to have fresh, quality meat is on this joyous occasion. The meat is distributed fresh, chilled but not frozen or canned, according to what is appropriate for the dietary culture of the region. Each packet is 2-5 kilograms of meat and feeds a family of 4-8 people.
The Best 10 Days of the Year are Upon Us!
” Ibn ‘Abbass (ra) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “There are no days in which good deeds are more beloved to Allah subhaan wa taala than these ten days.” The people asked, “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said, “not even jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing.”
The Beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said
“For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah (SWT)”
(Al-Tirmidhi)
The Islamic way of sacrificing animals is very merciful, quick, and kind. The knife used must be very sharp so that animals feel the least amount of pain and suffering. The animals are even slaughtered in private, to avoid other animals witnessing the sacrifice.
Our Qurbani program uses 100% Halal zabeeha meat. We do our best to always source animals locally to support the local economy, and distribute meat fresh to our beneficiaries. All logistics—from sacrifice to transportation—are handled in accordance with Islamic principles, while working to uphold the best hygienic practices.
During these 10 days, we at Amoud Foundation encourage you to perform good deeds, increase your ibadah, and fast on the Day of Arafah. You can help us build a Water Well or deliver an Emergency Water Truck to those in need in the Horn of Africa.
Jazakum Allah khairan,
